My 2nd Bone Surgery, May 18, 2004

I was under the medication of Traditional Bone Setters till March 2003, I got better and started moving with a walking stick. Things were looking bright, the following month, i was preparing to resume work when i recieved invitations for job interview from 2 companies, that was how i got a job with an Internet Service Provider in July 2003. I had to resign from my old place of work since the new one provided more opportunities for me and i would'nt be moving around much. For three months my leg showed some improvement, not until November 2003 when i noticed swelling and pores from a small wound. My Boss adviced me to register with the National Orthorpeadic Hospital Igbobi, Lagos. I was told at the Hospital that there was an infection on my bone and a non-union. I was placed on antibiotics for 6 months, after which i went through another surgery in May 2004 to correct the non-union of my bones. I had my first bone surgery at the Lagos State Accident (General) Hospital, where i was transferred to. The broken bones were brought together and an external fixation was used to hold my bones together, it was really scary at first when i saw it. Iron metals with screws passed through my flesh to hold my bones together. That General hospital was another world i was not used to, there i met different characters of people, the good, the bad, the ugly, patients, Doctors and Nurses alike. Anyway God saw me though the 6 weeks, after which the external fixations where removed and i was discharged with a POP (Plaster Of Paris) on my leg. I quickly learnt how to use the crutches so i can move about on my own. My next appointment with my doctor was 6 weeks later. It was not easy carrying the POP with all the heat and itching for 6 weeks.
